Visual Expressions 2025
SCAVA’s “Visual Expressions” Competition and Exhibition of 2025, opened on Friday evening, 29 August 2025 in the Sayers Auditorium of the George Museum. The renowned judges were, Prof Elfriede Dreyer, Fawa Conradie, and Juria le Roux.
This year’s competition was opened to members and non-members from age 16 upwards. We had 67 artists participating with a total of 152 artworks, including 7 students from the Inkcubeko Youth Science Centre. Truly inspiring.
This exhibition was a celebration in honouring the arts and was further enriched by the beautiful music of the Outeniqua High School Jazz Band, who performed to a packed auditorium of artists, patrons, and guests.
It is no small thing for an artists to put down the first mark on an glaring white canvas, to put your heart and soul into a painting and then putting it on display for all to see. Each and every artist that participated was celebrated for doing just that.
SCAVA had the privilege to have generous sponsors for our competition namely: Attic Atelier our Gold sponsor of R10 000, House of Bloom, The Little Art Shop and Artsavingsclub. Their support played a tremendous role in making our competition the resounding success that it was, encouraging creativity and shining a light on visual arts.
SCAVA proudly continued its ODIN fundraiser, inviting artists to submit miniature artworks sold at R500 each in support of animal welfare. The response was overwhelming, and the artworks were displayed in the foyer of the Sayers Auditorium. Our members again made a meaningful contribution to this worthy cause.
